M35 – The Waffen SS were the best armed soldiers in the German Wehrmacht. They were given the best equipment available and the various units served on all fronts except in Afrika. As the war progressed they were relied on more and more to spearhead the fighting on the toughest fronts. In 1943 they bore the brunt of the Kursk Offensive which featured the largest tank battles of WWII. In 1944 they were the backbone the the battle of France as the Allies attempted their breakout from the Normandy Beachheads.

This helmet is representative of helmets worn in Russia 1943-45 and in France 1944-45. The mix of Green paints was typical in summer use with the famous chicken wire added to stick brush and branches on the helmet. This was especially needed late in the war when the Germans lost air superiority.
